The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the track-focused development of the GT3, itself the most driver-orientated road-legal 911. Where the GT3 is already a performance-focused departure from the standard 911 Carrera — with a naturally-aspirated high-revving flat-six, rear-wheel steering and adjustable aerodynamics — the GT3 RS takes that further still, with more downforce, wider body, more extensive aerodynamic devices and suspension settings calibrated primarily for circuit use.

The current 992 GT3 RS uses a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six producing 525hp, paired with a PDK dual-clutch gearbox and an active aero system that includes a large rear wing and adjustable front dive planes. The result is a production car capable of sub-seven-minute Nürburgring Nordschleife laps. Earlier GT3 RS generations — the 997 and 991 series — also developed strong reputations in track day and motorsport competition, particularly in endurance racing and GT championships.

The GT3 RS designation has appeared in motorsport through customer racing programmes, appearing in Porsche Carrera Cup and GT class competition alongside the full-factory RSR GT racing variant.
