Revolutionary Girl Utena (少女革命ウテナ) is a landmark 1997 anime series directed by Kunihiko Ikuhara, produced by J.C.Staff and Be-Papas. Its intricate rose crest — a stylised rose bloom enclosed in a circular seal — is one of the most recognisable symbols in anime, appearing throughout the series and its 1999 theatrical film Adolescence of Utena.
The series is celebrated for its themes of gender, identity and fairy-tale deconstruction, building a devoted fanbase that spans the original broadcast generation and newer viewers discovering it through streaming and manga. The Ohtori Academy rose motif, duelling arena imagery and the Black Rose arc are all deeply embedded in fan culture worldwide.
Fits perfectly on laptops, phone cases, notebooks, water bottles, bedroom walls, anime shelf displays and cosplay props.
